Celebrating 250 episodes of Above & Beyond’s hugely popular Group Therapy radio show, ABGT250 will take place on Saturday, September 16 & Sunday, September 17 at the 22,000 capacity Gorge Amphitheatre in Central Washington State, 150 miles outside of Seattle. After performing at the Hollywood Bowl, Sydney Opera House and Royal Albert Hall in 2016, Jono, Tony and Paavo have clearly developed a taste for playing the world’s most iconic venues, so perhaps the announcement of the location of ABGT250 should come as little surprise, as the Gorge is widely considered to be one of the most breathtaking natural amphitheatres in the world.
The Saturday will see ABOVE & BEYOND celebrate ABGT250 with an 8-hour radio broadcast and global livestream alongside invited guest artists. Meanwhile the Sunday will feature a special Sunday Brunch with Anjunadeep event, showcasing artists from the label responsible for breaking such talents as Yotto, Lane 8 and Dusky in recent years.
Above & Beyond go on to say:
“We’ve been fortunate to host our most recent Group Therapy birthdays at some incredible arenas but it felt like a good time to change things up and celebrate ABGT250 in the great outdoors. The weekender and camping elements will help us create an experience in which fans from all over the world can hang out and make new friends at one of the most beautiful venues in the world.”
ABGT250 follows on from last year’s triumphant ABGT200 show at Amsterdam’s Ziggo Dome, which attracted fans from over 70 countries worldwide. In previous years the group has broadcast live from Madison Square Garden (ABGT100) and Sydney’s All Phones Arena (ABGT150), but ABGT250 will be the first Group Therapy milestone event to take place on the west coast of North America and the first to offer fans the chance to camp overnight under the stars.
The ABGT250 Launch Video features epic drone footage of the Group Therapy ribbons making their way along the Gorge river from Seattle, soundtracked by two new pieces of music from ABOVE & BEYOND – euphoric club instrumental “1001” and reflective piano piece “Surge”, which features on the “Inspired By” soundtrack album for Ghost In The Shell starring Scarlett Johansson.
